NEW DELHI: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed Alex Marshall, the former head of the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU), as a consultant for one year to oversee its anti-corruption operations, in a move aimed at “enhancing its reputation” after repeated incidents of fixing and integrity breaches in recent years.Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW!Marshall, who served as the ICC’s ACU general manager until September last year, will be tasked with training personnel, improving vigilance, and reinforcing protocols. The decision was finalised during a board meeting at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

“We appointed Alex Marshall for one year because we feel we need to enhance our ACU activities. They need to be more vigilant and receive more training,” BCB media committee chairman Iftekhar Rahman told reporters.“We are receiving a lot of complaints regarding corruption. We cannot sit idle, so all we can do is increase our manpower, bring in a proper trainer, and strengthen our ACU activities – that is why we are appointing Alex for one year,” he added.“He worked with the ICC. We think our ACU needs strengthening, which is why we are bringing him in,” Iftekhar said, noting that the ICC’s integrity unit will also monitor the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).Alongside Marshall, the BCB confirmed two more key appointments — Julian Wood, a power-hitting specialist who has previously worked with Sri Lanka Cricket, will join as specialist batting coach for three months, while Tony Hemming will take over as head of turf management for two years.
