Shubman Gill to lead North Zone in Duleep Trophy; door still open for Asia Cup selection | Cricket News
Team India Test captain Shubman Gill is set to lead 15-member North Zone team in the Duleep Trophy, but it didn’t mean that he can’t be part of the Asia Cup. The Duleep Trophy is scheduled to kick start from August 28 in Bengaluru, while the Asia Cup will be played from September 9 to 28.The North Zone selectors have made it clear that of Shubman Gill, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana or any of them are selected for the Indian team for the Asia Cup, they will be replaced by Subham Rohilla (Services), Gurnoor Brar (Punjab) and Anuj Thakral (Haryana), will replace the trio, respectively. Apart from the above replacements, the North Zone selectors have also named seven standbys.
This season, the tournament returns to its traditional zonal format, with state selectors from each region picking their respective squads.
