Scooter Rider Killed, One Injured After Collision with West Bengal MLA’s Car in Odisha – News12 Odisha
Bhubaneswar : One person was killed and another sustained serious injuries after a car belonging to West Bengal MLA Goutam Chowdhury collided with a scooter on National Highway 16 near Jamujhadi in Odisha’s Balasore district on Wednesday morning.
The accident took place, when the MLA’s vehicle, en route to West Bengal from Puri, struck the scooter as it attempted to cross the highway. Eyewitnesses reported that the car was moving at high speed, leading to a violent impact that left the scooter badly mangled.
Both victims were immediately rushed to Simulia Hospital, where one of them, identified as Radhakanta Lenka, a resident of Sajanpur in the Sora area, was declared dead. The injured individual, reportedly a relative of the deceased, remains under treatment.
Fortunately, MLA Goutam Chowdhury and five accompanying family members inside the vehicle escaped the crash unhurt.
On receiving the alert, Simulia police arrived at the accident site and have initiated an investigation. Authorities are examining the circumstances of the incident, including vehicle speed and possible negligence. Further updates are awaited as the inquiry continues.
