Grace Hayden, 23-year-old daughter of Australian cricket legend Matthew Hayden, is launching a new weekly video podcast called “Game On With Grace” on Willow, America’s leading cricket network. The show aims to introduce cricket to US audiences through engaging stories and conversations, marking a fresh approach to expand the sport’s presence in one of its biggest untapped markets. The innovative podcast will feature Grace interviewing sports personalities, starting with Australian cricket icon Adam Gilchrist, who played alongside her father during Australia’s dominant era in the early 2000s. Her unique perspective comes from growing up around cricket’s biggest stars, as her father played 103 Tests and scored over 8,000 runs for Australia.

“Game On is about pulling back the curtain on the world of sports’ untold stories,” Grace explained. “I grew up in cricket’s front row and have covered its biggest tournaments, but the moments that fascinate me most happen off camera. Partnering with Willow allows me to share those raw, funny, and inspiring conversations with athletes, artists, and anyone chasing greatness.”Willow CEO Todd Myers sees Grace as the perfect host to bridge the gap between cricket and American viewers. “Grace’s knowledge of the game, combined with a confident on-screen presence, makes her a uniquely powerful and authentic voice,” Myers said. “This podcast will bring authenticity, energy, and a fresh voice that will resonate with both long-time cricket fans and newcomers alike.”The timing couldn’t be better as cricket gains momentum in the United States. The launch of Major League Cricket in 2023 brought international stars like Ricky Ponting, Pat Cummins, and Faf du Plessis to American soil. The country also co-hosted the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, with matches in New York, Dallas, and Lauderhill.

Interestingly, cricket has deep roots in America. The first international cricket match was played between the USA and Canada in 1844 at St George’s Cricket Club in New York. However, the sport’s popularity eventually gave way to baseball. Now, through initiatives like Grace’s podcast, cricket aims to reclaim its place in American sports culture.
