Odisha’s Airborne Healthcare Scheme Treats 1,398 in Malkangiri – News12 Odisha
Bhubaneswar : The Odisha government’s flagship healthcare initiative, “Mukhya Mantri Bayu Swasthya Seva,” has brought specialist medical services to one of the state’s remotest districts. Between August 18 and 21, a medical camp at the Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital treated 1,398 patients, offering advanced care in multiple disciplines.
A team of seven super-specialist doctors from SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, provided treatment across cardiology, neurology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, and nephrology. Of the patients treated, 260 were in cardiology, 415 in neurology, 263 in gastroenterology, 229 in endocrinology, and 231 in nephrology. In addition, 130 ECGs, 59 endoscopies, and six laparoscopies were conducted.
The visiting team included Dr. Jyotirmay Nayak, Dr. Avhans Tank, Dr. Dhiraj Kumar Lenka, Dr. Sanghamitra Sahu, Dr. Sitakant Panda, Dr. Rakesh Mohanty, and Dr. Raj Kumar Mahapatra. Patients expressed gratitude for receiving specialist treatment without travelling long distances to urban centres.
District Collector Somesh Kumar Upadhyay and CDMO Dr. Dolamani Pradhan thanked the Chief Minister for ensuring accessible healthcare in the tribal district.
The Bayu Swasthya Seva scheme uses air connectivity to fly specialist doctors to remote districts, offering free treatment and bridging critical healthcare gaps for underserved communities.
