Odisha Signs MoUs to Boost Tourism and Heritage Conservation – News12 Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has signed three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with reputed institutions to strengthen heritage conservation, promote adventure tourism, and revive Buddhist pilgrimage circuits. The signing ceremony at Lok Seva Bhavan was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, and Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja.

Odisha has partnered with IIT-Madras for conservation of heritage monuments using advanced scientific methods. The collaboration includes structural audits, material testing, geotechnical studies, project management consultancy, and sustainable reuse strategies. Officials said the move would ensure scientific preservation of historic monuments while showcasing Odisha’s cultural legacy.

The state also signed an MoU with the National Institute of Water Sports (NIWS), Goa, to develop adventure tourism. The agreement covers international safety standards, regular safety audits, and training for lifeguards, operators, and service providers. With Odisha’s coastline and water resources, the initiative aims to create adventure tourism hubs and generate jobs.

A third MoU with the Light of Buddhadharma Foundation International (LBDFI) focuses on enhancing Buddhist tourism. Annual prayer ceremonies at Ratnagiri, Udayagiri, Lalitagiri, and Dhauli, along with improved amenities and cultural programs, will attract global visitors.
