Darshan to Be Suspended at Puri Srimandira Tomorrow for Chitalagi Rituals – News12 Odisha

Bhubaneswar : Devotees will not be allowed darshan of Lord Jagannath and His siblings at Srimandira in Puri on the occasion of Chitalagi Amavasya tomorrow. The temple will remain closed for public darshan from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM due to the special ritual.

As per tradition, the Subarna Chita (golden headgear) will be reinstalled on Lord Jagannath’s head by the Daitapatis, a ritual that follows the Snana Purnima observance when the Chita is usually removed due to Mahaprabhu’s ritual bathing.

The Chita is adorned with precious stones: white diamonds for Jagannath, blue stones for Balabhadra, and emeralds for Subhadra. It had been kept safe after being removed during Snana Purnima, as the deities were believed to have caught a fever from excessive bathing.

The sacred reinstallation marks a significant spiritual moment in the temple calendar.
