Cuttack Café Owner Arrested for attempting murder – News12 Odisha

Bhubaneswar : Police have arrested Deepak Barik, owner of Rooftop London Cafe and Restaurant in Trisulia, Cuttack, for allegedly cheating a 39-year-old woman government employee of ₹40 lakh and attempting to kill her.

The woman, originally from Koraput and residing in CDA Sector-6, met Deepak in 2019 and entered into a romantic relationship. She alleged that Deepak promised marriage, took ₹40 lakh from her—partly from land sale proceeds and partly through bank loans—and later began avoiding her.

When she demanded repayment, Deepak allegedly threatened her life. About a month ago, during a visit to his house, he reportedly tried to strangle her.

Bank records and witness statements supported her allegations, prompting police to raid the café and arrest him. Further investigation is underway.
