Asia Cup: Full list of champions, hosts and results of each edition | Cricket News

The Asia Cup is the continent’s premier international cricket tournament, first held in 1984 under the banner of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Played alternately in the 50-over and 20-over formats since 2016 depending on the upcoming ICC global event, the competition has featured the continent’s top cricketing nations for over three decades. India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan have dominated the tournament, with the trio sharing all the titles between them. India leads the charts with eight titles, followed closely by Sri Lanka with six, while Pakistan has lifted the trophy twice. Bangladesh have reached the final on multiple occasions but are yet to win the title. The tournament has also been a stage for intense rivalries, producing memorable contests between India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Notably, Sri Lanka is the only side to feature in every edition so far. The format of the competition has evolved over time, with round-robin editions in the early years later giving way to knockout finals. In recent years, the T20 format has also been adopted, aligning the Asia Cup with the ICC World T20 cycle.
