19-Year-Old Gets 20 Years Rigorous Imprisonment in POCSO Case – News12 Odisha

Bhubaneswar : A Special POCSO Court in Kendrapara on Friday sentenced 19-year-old Ananda Nayak of Tenua village, under Dhenkanal Sadar police limits, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
Convicted under Section 6 of the POCSO Act, Nayak was fined ₹50,000, with an additional one year RI if unpaid. He was also sentenced under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) — three years RI under Section 137(2) and five years RI under Section 87, each carrying a ₹5,000 fine and six months RI in default.
All sentences will run concurrently, and the total fine will be given to the victim for rehabilitation. The case highlights the judiciary’s stern stance on crimes against minors.
